Central Plains Conference

Engage the Mystery!  Advent worship planners, you have a special opportunity to learn about the Advent 2013 Leader materials from those who wrote them!  Bring the whole committee to Manson (IA) Mennonite Church on Saturday, Sept 7th, from 10-3:30 for Engaging the Mystery: Introducing Advent 2013.  The cost is $25 per person.  Ask your church office for a brochure or go to goo.gl/yZXOo.  Questions?  Call Shana Peachey Boshart at 319.936.5905.

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for parents and children of our conference, that they may take opportunities this summer for the things that build faith: faith conversations, family service projects, family devotions, and rituals and traditions.  For practical tips, see www.centralplainsmc.org.

Mennonite Agencies

Thank you from MCC Central States for your faithful and continuing support of the work of MCC.  We are grateful to all of you who have given your resources of time, money, creativity and energy through meat canning, thrift shops, relief sales, Penny Power, board participation, special events and donations.  Because of your support MCC and our partners can keep working for relief, development and peace in over 60 countries around the world.
As you know, the crisis in Syria continues to escalate and resources are scarce to meet the humanitarian needs.  Recently, containers with MCC relief sale supplies made it into Syria for the 2nd time in 3 months. School kits, hygiene kits, blankets, food and other items are currently being distributed.  We could not have done it without you.  Thank you for your support and prayers as MCC continues to respond to this crisis in the name of Christ.

The annual meeting for the Iowa Mennonite Central Committee Relief Sale will be held at Washington Mennonite Church Monday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m.  All are invited to attend to hear evaluations and reports on the 2013 sale and to make plans for the 2014 sale.  Refreshments will be served.

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Today, 40 youth are completing a three-day Sirviendo a Cristo (Serving Christ) seminar, organized by the Bolivia Mennonite Church, a MMN partner, to deepen faith and prepare for mission.  Pray that these young leaders will find joy as they serve in their congregations and their communities.
