Our Church

On March 10th there will be a baby shower potluck for Angela, Jared, and baby Eliza.  To give towards the purchase of a high chair and diapers, either see Karen Seaton or put a designated check in the offering plate.

There will a potato bar fundraiser on March 17th for Tanner, Jacayla and the West Union MYF here in the fellowship hall.  Come and support Jacayla and Tanner as they prepare to go to the Mennonite Youth Convention this summer in Phoenix.


Iowa Mennonite School

The IMS Alumni Association, along with the Washington Township Optomists, will host and serve the annual Turkey Steak Supper on Saturday, March 9th, from 4:30-7:00 pm.  Tickets for the meal are available from any IMS freshman, members of the two organizations, or by contacting the school.

IMS senior Laura Hochstetler will present a senior recital on Sunday, March 10th at 3:00pm in Celebration Hall.

IMS’ 25 voice Touring Choir, under the direction of Josh Tyson, will present a program of worship on Sunday, March 10th, 10:30am at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.

IMS students available for hire!  Please contact Mary Lou Gingerich at the school to hire one or more students on Friday, March 15th; all wages earned will support the school’s Financial Aid program.  Thanks for your support!

Tickets are available for Red Campion, an ensemble featuring Wellman native and IMS graduate Lara Troyer; they will perform at IMS on Saturday, March 23rd at 7pm.  The ensemble includes four vocalists and a pianist, and the evening will feature light classics and musical theater.

The IMS Culinary Arts class will again be serving international meals in the lobby outisde Celebration Hall.  Les aliments qui inspirent (foods that inspire) will be open March 27th (German cuisine), A[ril 3 (Brazilian) and April 24 (Finnish).  Serving will begin at 8:30am, and the cost is $8 per person.  Reservations are required and seating is limited; please call the office at 656-2073 or 683-2586.  Ranee Brokaw instructs the class.


Crooked Creek Christian Camp

The CCCC Board of Directors has formed a search committee to look for a new Administrator for the camp.  Qualified candidates should possess a strong sense of calling for camp ministry, a personal commitment to Christ with an Anabaptist theology.  Strong administrative, financial management, fundraising, and public relations skills are also required for this position.  If you or someone you know is interested, please contact cccc.search at gmail.com for more information.  Thank you.

The Sower Prayer Request:  Today Taric Leichty will be installed as associate pastor for youth at Bellwood Mennonite Church in Milford, Nebraska.  Pray for Taric and for Bellwood as they begin their ministry together.

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Praise God for Brad Graber and Brenna Steury Graber, who arrived in Paris, France, at the end of January to begin a three-year MMN assignment as youth workers in a collaborative ministry among Mennonite congregations.  Pray for them as they adapt to a new language, culture and ministry.

Prayers for Faith and Learning:  Pray for a sense of renewal and encouragement for the teachers and staff of Penn View Christian School, Christopher Dock Mennonite High School and Quakertown Christian School participating in the Joint In-Service tomorrow.


Washington Area

Wellman Mennonite invites you to the Annual Mush Fry this afternoon.  This old fashioned meal of fried mush, tomato gravy, liverwurst, sausage, eggs and applesauce will be served from 11:30-1:00.  Proceeds will benefit the Wellman Mennonite MYF.

The Bluffton University Camerata Singers (Bluffton, OH) will perform in concert at First Mennonite Church in Iowa City on Tuesday, March 5th at 7 pm.  “Promises of God’s Reign” is the concert theme.  The music will explore four promises: peace, comfort, hope and deliverance.  Everyone is welcoming to attend this evening of worship.

Kalona MOPS Annual Turkey and all the Fixings Lunch:  Please join the Kalona MOPS group at our annual fundraiser lunch on March 24th from 11:30 to 1:30 at Kalona Mennonite Church.  Menu includes turkey, potatoes, green beans, lettuce salad, fluff, roll and dessert.  Free will donations accepted.  Also, our new MOPS cookbooks will be available for purchase.

The Washington Community Schools, with support from Bodywrx Fitness, will be sponsoring an annual Run/Walk on Saturday, April 6th at 9 am at the High School.  The Run/Walk passes by each of the schools and the proceeds are used to purchase equipment for the schools’ physical education departments.  For information on how to contribute see the bulletin board by the mailboxes.
