Iowa Mennonite School
IMS’s Touring Choir, under the direction of Karenza Yoder, will present a concert his evening at Wellman Mennonite Church, at 7pm.  They will present a variety of sacred pieces and all are invited to attend.  A free-will offering will be taken for the school.

Pre-Registration: All students new to IMS in the fall of 2012, freshman and transfer students, are encouraged to pre-register for classes during one of two times: Wed, April 4 or Wed, April 25 (3:30-6:00 either day).  Students will select courses and meet with principal Tony Miller.  Pre-registering does not bind a student to coming in the fall, but rather is a preliminary step in the process.

Financial assistance to attend IMS is available for any family wishing to apply.  Please go to www.iowamennonite.org/admissions/financial-aid for the appropriate application forms.  Contact the school for more information

Washington Area
“Passion of the Christ” Screening - The Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church will sponsor the screening of “The Passion of the Christ,” on April 1 at 6:30 pm in Celebration Hall on the Iowa Mennonite School campus.  There is no admission and there will be childcare in the school gymnasium.  Due to the graphic nature of this movie, we advise parents to determine if it is appropriate for their children.  The film graphically displays the Biblical account of what Jesus went through to bring us God’s Salvation. You are invited to invest 127 minutes of your Holy Week to share this experience with us.

Jubilance Children's Choir, a community children's choir with 35 singers, will present their spring concert Come Celebrate God's Gift of Music on Sunday, April 1 at 4pm at Kalona Mennonite Church.

The Washington Area Ministerial Association (WAMA) is inviting the entire community to come together on Good Friday, April 6th at noon.  We will start at the post office for a moment of reflection and then continue on to 13 different locations around Central Park, ending at First Baptist Church.  We will be reflecting on Jesus’ suffering and death.  The walk will take around an hour.  Everyone is welcome to join!  If you have any questions, please call Pastor Jim Stiles at 319-653-5446.

Curtis Fry, who went to jail for muder, is speaking Sunday, April 15th at 7pm in the WACO High School gym, sponsored by the Bethel Mennonite Church Youth Group.  Curtis made the choice to celebrate his 21st birthday with alcohol and while heavily intoxicated he killed a man with his fists.  Curtis will be sharing his story and speaking about how the choices we make in life affect those around us.  Most importantly he will share how our choices represent Jesus Christ.  Contact 319-548-0068 for more information.

You are invited to a fundraiser meal and cake auction at East Union Mennonite Church on Sunday, April 22nd for Mitch and Heidi Siemens-Rhodes and family, starting at noon.  Mitch is the son of Dale and Charlene Rhodes and grew up in the Kalona area. Mitch met Heidi at Goshen College and after they were married, they lived in the area from 2000-2002.  During this time, they actively attended East Union and Mitch worked on the family farm while Heidi taught English at IMS for a semester.  Mitch and Heidi now live in Goshen, Indiana with their three sons.  In late September of 2011, Heidi was diagnosed with metastasis of melanoma. Heidi is currently on a vigorous immunotherapy infusion treatment plan. For more detailed information, go to www.caringbridge.org then enter HeidiSiemensrhodes to visit her site. The meal and cake auction are sure to be a fun and lively time! Your RSVP to mitchandheidifundraiser at gmail.com is appreciated to help with planning.
