UPCOMING EVENTS:
Aug. 29: Back to School Rally/Farewell potluck for Amanda Beachy
Sept. 22: Annual fall business meeting, 7 PM
WMC has been blessed this summer by the ministry of seminary intern, Amanda Beachy. Her last Sunday will be August 29, and we are planning a farewell potluck after worship that day. Typically, a congregation offers $2500 to such an intern as their summer wage. WMC is not committed to a summer wage due to the AMBS delay in making arrangements, but elders, council and Grant and Diane want to give the congregation the opportunity to bless Amanda and her ministerial training pursuits with a generous love gift. If you would like to contribute to Amanda, please designate a portion of your check and place in the offering, or put a designated gift in the treasurer’s mailbox by Sunday, August 29.
Some of the activities Amanda has been engaged in this summer include:
* Preached three times and worship led twice at WMC (preached twice at neighboring churches)
* Worship leader and teacher for VBS
* Faith mentor for camp intern Crooked Creek
* Outreach & Service referrals
* Bulletin Boards organized and kept update (including taking pictures of us!)
* Made stewardship posters and memory work puzzle
* Attended various meetings at WMC and for conference
* Met with various clergy groups
* Collated Grant’s review
* Leading web site visioning and design
* Visitation
* Led devotions with Diane for MCUSA executive board
* Attended Central Plains Conference Annual Meeting and shadowed Diane there
* Created the Ecuador poster for conference congregations
* Staffed office full-time (mail, phones, computer work)
