Grant and Amanda have been gone the last few Sundays as delegates to the Mennonite Central Plains Conference Annual Meeting in Ashland, MT and the MC USA Convention in Phoenix, AZ. 

       

Crooked Creek Christian Camp

The Crooked Creek Christian Camp Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Friesen as Administrator of CCCC. Tim has served with MCC and has a heart for service. He and his wife, Karla (Amstutz), will move to camp from Omaha, NE in August. The camp board asks for your prayers during this time of transition.

Iowa Mennonite School

All are invited to the performance of Calamity Jane and the Showdown at Dry Gulch at Iowa Mennonite School on Friday, July 12 at 7:00 pm.  The performance is the culmination of a week-long drama camp at the school, featuring area youngsters under the leadership of Camp Creamery from the Old Creamery Theater in Amana.  There will be an admission charge for the performance.

Iowa Mennonite School is in need of an 8-passenger van to provide van service for students from the Iowa City area this upcoming year.  Please contact the school if you know of a good quality van . . . via donation or "manageable" cost.

Thank you to all who generously gave of your resources to help Iowa Mennonite School end the year in the black once

again!  It was the wonderful generosity of so many who helped make this happen; the administration, faculty/staff and students of IMS are grateful for your continued investment in our lives.  Thank you again!

Central Plains Conference

The Sower Prayer Request:  Pray for David Brunner and Rochester Mennonite Church as David retires after 15 years as pastor there.  Pray that God will continue to guide and grow the Rochester congregation as Galen Penner begins as pastor on August 1.

Mennonite Agencies

Mennonite Mission Network Prayer Request:   Linda Oyer of MMN continues to struggle with eye problems.  A severe cold caused a June eye surgery to be rescheduled.  Pray that Linda’s health may be restored and that she may regain sight in her left eye to continue her ministries of teaching and writing in France and throughout the French-speaking world.

The annual meeting for the Iowa Mennonite Central Committee Relief Sale will be held at Washington Mennonite Church Monday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m.  All are invited to attend to hear evaluations and reports on the 2013 sale and to make plans for the 2014 sale.  Refreshments will be served.

Washington Area

JPOG (Just Peace Outreach Group) invites you to a Peace Picnic on Sunday evening, July 7, 2013, at Tom and Kay Fleming's house, 1390 145th St. Wellman. The potluck picnic will begin at 6 PM; drinks will be provided, but please bring finger food to share, along with your own table service and a lawn chair. Following food and conversation we'll share our own peace stories or tell those we've heard about. In case of rain, we'll meet in Fleming's house.
